Join us for the next Sustainable Space Hub coffee on November 6th, 13h00 in PPB 0 19 (EPFL Campus).
September and October have been intense with several events and conferences that included the topic of space sustainability.
The 3rd Workshop on “Life Cycle Assessment of Space Transportation Systems” took place in Stuttgart. 35 experts from politics, space agencies, industry and research came together to exchange about the current status and possible approaches to assess the environmental impact of rockets.
Later, the CleanSpace Days 2024 at ESTEC, with technical sessions on LCA/ecodesign, zero debris, and in-orbit servicing (IOS) gathered European experts from academia, agencies, and industries, spearheading the research and implementation of these topics. Finally, the largest annual space-related event, the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) was hosted in Milano, with its main focus on "responsible space for sustainability". Many sessions at IAC grouped presentations about space sustainability over a broad range of research projects and technologies from all over the world.
The EPFL Space Center staffs that attended one or more of these conferences will take the opportunity of the 4th sustainable space hub coffee to compile lessons learnt and a summary of international research to share with the EPFL community.
