eSpace is running a concurrent design facility (CDF) which includes infrastructure, tools and support to carry concurrent design studies. During a study, several sessions bring together a multidisciplinary team to iteratively design a mission from a set of starting requirements. The process fosters interactions between subsystems’ specialists, data exchange, and rapidly produces (a) solution(s) to answer the feasibility of the system under study.
The CDF allows the use of the knowledge and the tools developed in the other research topics of sustainable space detailed on this page. It is therefore possible to trade-off the usual key indicators of performance, timing and cost, with environmental impacts, space debris risks, and space logistics metrics.
