The 4th edition of the international challenge dedicated to space applications!
TACKLE ACTINSPACEāS CHALLENGES AND UNLEASH YOUR ENTREPRENEURIAL POTENTIAL!
What is ActInSpaceĀ®?
Launched by CNES (French government space agency) in 2014 and co-organised by ESA (European Space Agency) since 2016, ActInSpaceĀ®Ā is an international competition enabling to imagine the products and services of tomorrow using satellite data or space applications.
Created in order to foster entrepreneurship, especially among young people, midway between a startup weekend and a hackathon, ActInSpaceĀ® enables teams with different profilesĀ throughout the world to take up, in just 24 hours, one of the challengesĀ set up by CNES, ESA and their partners,Ā and finally launch their startup.
One of the objectives of ActInSpaceĀ® is to create a bridge between space agencies and citizens. Therefore, the competition offersĀ challenges based on CNES and ESA patents, which participants can access exceptionally. In order to actually launch their project, after the hackathon, they get to meet inventors and experts from the space agencies.Ā Some partners also offer challenges, based on satellite data (PleĢiĢades for Airbus, GNSS for the GSAā¦) and accompany the participants in the same way. Examples of challenges can be seen onĀ https://actinspace.org/challenges
During the ActInSpaceĀ® hackathon, experts from the space industry and the business world are present to advise and accompany the contestants.
Through these challenges, combining proactiveness, pushing the limits and team spirit, ActInSpaceĀ® fosters and facilitates entrepreneurship among young people while promoting space technologies for daily uses, for the benefit of citizens, employment and our planet.
The best team wins a ZeroG flightĀ in the European astronautās aircraft and all competitorsĀ get the opportunity to be accompanied for the launch of their startup.
Since the 1st edition of ActInSpaceĀ®,Ā some 35 startups have actually been launched in the different host countries.Ā Among recent examples features Australian company Wright Technologies, winner of ActInSpaceĀ® Grand International Prize in 2018 for its tamper-proof identification and registration system for UAV operators, using a CNES Patent based on Galileo.
